We have all heard of the potty patch by now, it has been on the TV for a month now and everyone has thought, it would be a great to have my dog trained on one of those pads. That was my first thought when I saw it many months ago. As a person that works out of the house and doesn’t have anyone at home to take care of my little, dog (Jake), my first thought was I need to get myself one.

Since I was tired of having to pick up dog messes everywhere, I went and purchased Jake a potty patch. At first he would NOT use the potty pad. It took some time and work to train Jake to use it. I went and purchased some natural ground smell from a local outdoors store and also ended up getting a log to urine on.

The potty patch itself is a 3 tiered dog restroom. I have found it to be perfect for my patio as well as indoor use. The first tier is made up of a soft artificial grass that allows the flow and easy pickup of dog urine and poop. The second tier is a grate that holds the top tier away from the pee, which is in the third tier, the collection tray. They say the collection tray holds up to a gallon of urine but I didn’t want to test that. I change it out every three days, due to the fact I don’t want it to spill while I’m moving it and cleaning it.

After a month of having him trained to go on the pad, I no longer come home to mess here and there. Jake has been using consistently. I do have it next to the door, so its in his natural path to go outside. I have found this to be helpful. The potty patch has been a near perfect solution to leaving my dog at home while I’m away at work.

My Puppy Max – Short Training Video

This is a short training video of my 11month old puppy Max. This isn’t a how-to video, I’m just showing what he can do. He’s a poodle- scottish terrier mix. As you can see, I’m not a professional trainer, but I do try to teach him the basics. This video shows him doing four things- going up on my lap with the command “Come up here”, going down on the floor with the command “Down”, and sitting with “Sit”, and going inside his kennel with the command “Go in”. The way I teach him is very traditional- teach the trick, give a treat, repeat, repeat, repeat. If any viewer has a good suggestion on improving this teaching technique, then by all means, please leave a comment. In addition to these tricks, he’s also housebroken. I trained him to “go” on peeing pads with the pheromone. Then a few weeks after he’s fully trained using the pads, I taught him to pee in the garage by placing peeing pads beneath an indoor peeing tray called UGODog. He still has a lot to learn, but he’s a very smart and sweet dog. He’s in the process of learning to stay when a treat is placed on his nose and how to shake hands. My girlfriend ADORES this pup. Pet lovers subscribe please. Having said that, dogs ROCK!

How can I house train my two dogs that are older.?

I have two dogs that I need to house break. One is a pin Mini and is hyper as hell and she is intelligent continues to pee in the house. The other was an abandoned dog who was abused by a car, but survived. We want to keep them but they are always new carpet Saturday, because they have ruined the carpet. However, the carpet in the house is full of piss and stuff so I hope changing the carpet to stop sniffing and wanting to go. But what else can I do to these dogs. I do not want to hurt because they have already been abused and would really like to keep them, but I will not ruin the new carpet too. I work from home so I do not have time to spend.

Help! My house broken dog can’t stop peeing!?

I need help. My house 7 years old Chihuahua broken can not stop peeing today. I woke up to pee and then while I was cleaning, he peed on a wall right in front of me. My dog is a good dog and would never pee in front of me (he had his accident only). I went home and my bf said he came home in the same place to pee this morning covered in marks and that when he took the dog started peeing all over the wall! I’m afraid that is sick. Could have some disease or he goes crazy? Thanks! I need help. My bf wants to neutral, but he is too old and that would not hurt him: O (

2 years post house broken, why is my dog now lifting his leg in the house?

We had two years without incident. Now the dog goes outside to do his job and just this morning, came to the right and lifted his leg on an object in the house and pee. What could cause this change and how do you train him out of it? He is neutered and objects are not new. No main models have been changed that I could identify I wonder what could cause this request. Thanks for the response so far! In addition, he is a Chihuahua / Terrier Mix.
